Silicon
Sands Call for Digital Submissions

Exhibition Dates:
November 4, 2005–January 21, 2006
in the Museum of Fine Art, 490 N. Water St.,
Las Cruces, NM 88001
Eligibility:
Silicon Sands is open to all digitally created imagery, of any
subject and technique. Submissions must not have been exhibited
previously in Las Cruces.
Submissions Criteria:
Artists may submit up to three entries. Submission fee for up to
three entries is $25, payable to “City of Las Cruces.”
(All submitted works must be available for sale. Prices
should
reflect a 30% sales commission.)
2-D Submissions:
Submissions to Silicon Sands should be submitted on CD as JPEGs;
355 dpi JPEG files must be accompanied by artwork(s) title(s),
exhibited dimensions (including frame), price, and artist’s
name, email address, mailing address, and telephone number.
Video Submissions:
Video media submissions are limited to 10 minutes in length, submitted
on a VHS tape. Include artist’s name, e-mail address, mailing
address, and telephone number, video price.
Calendar:
Submissions deadline: must be received by August 15, 2005.
Notification of acceptance by email no later than September 15,
2005.
Exhibited 2-D works must be submitted framed and wired, ready-to-hang.
Accepted video works will be exhibited by television and/or LCD
screen projection.
Delivery of accepted works must be received
via shipper Oct 1–27.
• Works delivered by shipper must be accompanied by a pre-paid,
return shipping label.
• Hand-delivered works accepted Oct 26 only, 9am-4pm.
Exhibition dates November
4, 2005–January 21, 2006.
Artist reception Nov. 5, 2005, 6pm-8pm, in the Las Cruces Museum
of Fine Art.
Return shipping will be scheduled by the Museum of Fine Art
no later than January
31, 2006.

Exhibiting artists grant a photo release for their
imagery to be used to promote the “Silicon Sands” exhibition
and the Las Cruces Museum of Fine Art. Submission to “Silicon
Sands” will be construed as acceptance of all terms and conditions
listed above. The Museum of Fine Art reserves the right to exclude
any submitted works meeting the legal definition of “obscene” according
to prevailing case law concerning the First Amendment of the U.S.
Constitution. Final determination as to exhibited artwork is reserved
for the MFA Curator.
