Just got this in my mailbox:
Anyone who is a fan of photojournalism, or great photography that documents our daily lives, will want to attend this year’s W. Eugene Smith Grant in Humanistic Photography in New York City on October 17th at 7:00 p.m. More than $40,000 in grants will be presented to some of this year’s nominees, including the Howard Chapnick Grant for the Advancement of Photojournalism. The W. Eugene Smith Fund has extended an open invitation to attend the event and there is no fee. The evening is filled with incredible photography and presentations from some of the most respected journalists in the business today, including a keynote speech by Kimberly Dozier, correspondent for AP and author of Breaking the Fire. Dozier will also recount her time in Baghdad in 2006 when she was injured in a car bomb incident.
